Executive Summary

 

Mercurious Designs is a service oriented business that offers custom design, pattern and construction of sewn products (primarily garments). The owner has a background in design and custom clothing for the stage, therefore is able to take on a variety of projects that other businesses can’t tackle. It is an adaptable business, able to take on work from many markets—fashion, product design, and costume. The owner hopes to evolve into a more fashion-oriented business over the next several years, offering design services to the individual client as well as to other new businesses in the Midwest and across the nation.

 

 

Objectives

 

· Work closely with clients to develop a garment or product that fits their needs

· Offer reasonable rates, high quality work with an honest and forthright working relationship with clients

· Foster other new businesses, especially fashion in the Midwest

· Grow into a business which can do small-run production, ultimately producing an in-house line of clothing

 

Mission

 

My mission as a person and as the owner of Mercurious Designs is to exercise my creativity and earn a living doing this. I enjoy helping individuals grow their small businesses, and in return they inspire me to keep creating my own designs. I feel that I cannot do one without the other—it is definitely a give and take with the community around me.

 

Keys to Success

 

In order to survive and compete with east and west coast companies, Mercurious Designs needs to:

 

· Provide well-thought out designs and patterns, and high quality samples at a competitive price

· Be honest and straightforward about pricing and the services that I can provide; offer alternatives for services I cannot provide

· Create a close relationship with clients to keep them as repeat customers while their businesses grow, which will promote word-of-mouth advertising

· Keep a strong web presence to connect with designers in my area, across the US and around the world
